| Starbucks, similar in this regard to McDonald's, is the object of one of America's biggest love/hate relationships--in the corporate scheme at least. This serpentine affair can be divided into two sub-relationships: those of us who both love and hate Starbucks, and those of us who don't know whether to love or hate Starbucks, and thus don't really hate them enough to withdraw our business. Below is a list I've made describing the top reasons we both love and hate this company. 1. Beginning in the mid-90's the initial burst of Starbuck's success was as brilliant to watch as a 4th of July fireworks ceremony, and our eyes were as glued to their stock chart as if it were a sky expectant of a meteor shower. Every jump upward was like another shooting star. |
2. After a certain period, hard to pinpoint exactly, the constant growth of Starbucks began to sicken us for a plethora of obvious reasons. They were no longer the former underdog, rags to riches story, but had become the underdog-destroyers. And nobody likes an underdog destroyer.
